DÅs - Dance Ås

DÅs is a social association with energetic and dance-loving souls. The association was founded on August 11, 2013, and has since then spread a lot of  joy and entertainment among the students at NMBU. The association performs at events and takes on paid jobs.

Joy, engagement and responsibility within dance
I've always loved music and dance, and grew up surrounded quite a lot with the joy of it in my family. So, keeping dance and music in my day-to-day life has always been something I've longed for - especially after quitting my years with Hip Hop. I was therefore very interested and happy when I discovered my university's social dance group, Dance Ås (DÅs). With weekly trainings and social events, I quickly learned to love this community and wanted to invest more of my time there.

At the General Assembly I therefore applied for one of the roles in the board of the commission, the event manager. Luckily, I was chosen, and my next year as event manager demanded a lot of event planning, meeting management, communication, digital marketing and creativity. The board is also responsible for thinking strategic about the commissions development and future possibilities, as well as building and ensuring a safe culture.
As the event manager I planned and organised about 20 internal events, in addition to organise the comissions participation to other activities and invitations through the year. My engangement in the role also resulted in creating the commissions first website for marketing even better.

As my role already was participating in the commissions event planning, it was natural to also become a part of the show committee - planning for the biggest event and show DÅs ever had at this point. It was a busy time with a lot of planning, time pressure, organisation work and communication with the whole committee - ensuring quality in dances, sketches, music, light, costume and marketing. Although, it was all worth it when all tickets sold out and we met an overpacked hall.

I can look back on an intense but fun period, being proud of what we delivered. Some pictures from the show "Sheep Happens" can be shown in the slide below.
