Indøk NMBU is an association for all students belonging to the 5-year Master's in Industrial Engineering and Technology Management at NMBU (Norwegian University of Life Sciences). Their vision is to strengthen Industrial Engineering and Technology Management as a course of study, forge closer ties between business and students, engage students in the course, and forge stronger social ties.
Buddy Manager
I am pretty much an extrovert and love to meet and interact with new people. That is some of the reason to why I wanted to contribute with social responsibility in the Indøk board. As buddy manager for the study, you are responsible for the 2-3 weeks of the fall semester - welcoming, organising and including new students beginning at Industrial Engineering and Technology Management.
I was the manager of about 25 buddies and 60 new students. The role required a lot of planning, budgeting and organising, especially because COVID-19 was still a concern we had to deal with. I was challenged with handling suddenly unexpected scenarios or changes of situation, which has made me to a more proactive thinker and manager. As buddy manager you also get a lot of information from different sources in a short timespan. I therefore learned a lot about effective structuring of information.
