SiÅs, The Student Association in Ås, offers student accommodation, guest accommodation, sports facilities, bookshops, restaurants and rental of meeting and party rooms. SiÅs works to ensure that students everyday life is as good as possible.
During COVID-19 the Norwegian government granted financial support to ensure a safe and social everyday life for students during the pandemic. This resulted in Student Mentors, hired to plan and organise student events with a focus on low threshold for participation.
A meaningfull part-time job
The Student Mentors were honored with the NMBU Student Environment Award in 2022. You can read my interview about it
here in the local newspaper.
As a student mentor I've been accountable for planning and executing a variety of different events, indoor and outdoor activities. It was important for us to focus on creating a safe, fun and including environment, where people would feel that they could come just by themself.
We also worked together with and learned from proficient, responsible nurses at the local health centre in Ås. The purspose of this was to make us Student Mentors better quipped to meet, catch and in our possible ways help people with mental health or social related struggles.
As the Student Mentors were a quite new og sudden arrangement, it was nessecary with good marketing. With previous experience and interest in digital creation, I was also tasked with responsibility for conceptualizing and creating our promotional materials.
